Oryzias vowora (Rice fish) is a peaceful schooling, timid fish from the Adrianichthyidae family.

The body of the Oryzias is translucent and has a gray-lilac color. When hit by reflected light, the fish shimmers with a neon shine. The abdomen below and the pectoral fins are colored reddish. There is a red border on the caudal fin.

The fish are suitable for a nano aquarium and a grass tank.

Size of an adult: up to 3 cm
Life expectancy: about 3 years
Sociality: schooling. Keep from 8 individuals, better - more. Oryzias get along well with their relatives. Sometimes you can observe skirmishes between males for the attention of females, but they do not end in physical injuries. Water layers: upper
Compatibility: Oryzias are peaceful small fish, they can live with similarly sized species, such as neons, Pygmy Corydoras, Galaxy and Brigitte microrasboras, Amanda tetras. Good neighbors are Cherry shrimp. Oryzias should not be kept with large and aggressive fish.
Feeding: omnivores. Feed a variety of foods, combining small-fraction dried food with live or frozen (brine shrimp, cyclops, tubifex). You should also add food containing plant components.
Water parameters: water temperature 20-25°C, pH acidity: 7.0-8.0, water hardness °dH: 8-18. The aquarium is equipped with a filter and an aerator. Change 20% of the water once a week.
Minimum aquarium volume: from 5 l for a school
Aquarium arrangement: dim, diffused lighting. To reveal the full beauty of the Oryzias coloring, you can use special GLO lamps for fish. The aquarium should be planted with live plants that the fish do not damage.
